Dasylirion serratifolium (Sandpaper Sotol / Serrated Desert Spoon) is a dramatic architectural evergreen succulent with serrated, sword-like leaves forming a bold, sculptural rosette. A striking accent plant for xeric landscapes, Mediterranean gardens, containers, and dry borders.

Growth rate: Slow to moderate 

Foliage: Dense rosette of narrow, serrated strap-like leaves with sharply toothed edges
Foliage colour: Blue-green to grey-green 

Flowering: Tall upright flower spikes with cream-coloured flowers in summer (can reach several metres)
Flower colour: Cream to yellowish 

Position: Full sun for best form and growth
Soil: Very well-drained soil — gravelly, sandy or rocky mixes ideal
Watering: Low — drought-tolerant once established; water sparingly
Hardiness: Hardy to mild frost in dry soil but benefits from protection in cold, wet climates
